Ive been eying this thread for quiet some time and let me just say THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDIN!
Wesgarner "WG" has definitely taken a totally different approach to optimizing the CM 4.2.7.1 I can say that this CM based [ROM] has been pushed in the wright direction with his tweaks..
I gave my true 3day stress test on my MT3G and it passes with flying colors.. I most definitely suggest this bulid for all you MyTouch user's with RAM hacks, ZipAlign method, New A2sd, and GApps it no wonder that his numbers are growing.. Great job WES-G!

Stercison a Android legend

Well I have been wanting to do this for sometime to show respect to one of the greats to have worked and still does work on android. Well if you dont know what Stercison has done here is a quick brake down he was the first to create a theme on the android platform thats was able to be installed the way we do it now and I have been privileged enough to have worked with him on it, he also brought the first great lockscreen to android with battery percentage actual battery on the lockscreen and white time on the notification clock. Well I cant even get into how much of a help he also is to the android community with his dedicated and helpful attitude. The reason I desided to do this now is he just dropped recently his latest masterpiece that was put together by him and another buddy of mine Jdwme2 which is another great designer and theme creator hats off to him as well.

I5700 Galaxy Video Footage

Here is a quick video of the I5700 Galaxy running Android.

Samsung I5700 Galaxy Lite running Android, keepin' it classy

Well, what do we have here? Looks like someone's got their hands on Samsung's low-cost, Android-packin' I5700 Galaxy Lite. And don't you worry -- the fine folks at ai.rs blog have assured us that the rave-tastic green battery cover will be replaced by something a little less garish when this bad boy goes into production. Otherwise, it should all be here, including: a 3.2 megapixel camera, 1GB memory, and an AMOLED display. And for further proof that HTC Click has a fight on its hands, hit the read link for plenty more glamor shots -- but not before you check out the video of Sammy's contender after the break.

T-Mobile UK announces the Android-powered Pulse

To all of the companies with intentions to pump out cheap and readily available devices: It’s time to get a move on because Huawei has just schooled you. Announced today is the T-Mobile Pulse, a prepaid-capable Android smartphone that utilizes a UI overlay known as Canvas. In terms of specs, the Pulse is quite capable with a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 3.2 megapixel camera, 2GB internal memory, 528MHz along with HSDPA, Wi-Fi and GPS radios. There are two features notably absent however; a flash for the camera and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Both T-Mobile and Huawei insist that their exclusion was necessary to keep the Pulse’s dimensions slim and trim at 160mm x 62.5mm x 13.5mm. Like it or not, the 3.5mm-less and flash-less Pulse will be as cheap as chips when it goes on sale this October: £179.99 ($293 USD) — or as low as 4.95€ in Germany with a 2-year agreement.

JesusFreke Has Stopped Making Builds/Roms And Will Be Missed.

Well if you don't know who JesusFreke is then you still have a lot to learn about the android OS,he is to me and to many the god father of android being the first to build a modded build for android's G1. His builds have set the way for many developers such as TheDude,Justanotherdev,Cyanogen etc... to create builds/Roms and even developers such as my self who create themes for the G1,he also offered help to everyone wanting to learn android and anything he could share with his fans. The reason I created this post was to pay respect to JesusFreke for everything he has done for XDA and all android fans as well if was not for him the G1 would not be what it is today.

So I thank you bro and I wish you the best in what ever you do.

Motorola Holding Android Event September 10th

Hello, Android. Are you ready for the moment you’ve been waiting for, Moto fans? It looks like Motorola is finally getting ready to dish at least some preliminary info with regards to its Android efforts. No word yet on what exactly will go down at the September 10th event but if we had to wager a guess, it will involve a call to developers, Blur, the Sholes and/or the Morrison. Actually, we’re hearing that the Sholes will absolutely, positively, 100 percent be unveiled at the event but we’ve yet to hear what else Moto has in store. We’ll be on hand from start to finish of course — for one thing so that we can deliver you guys live details as things unfold, but mainly so that we can molest whatever sexy handsets Moto shows off at the event.

Offical google voice app coming soon.

Third-party apps be damned as Google is getting ready to launch the official Google Voice application for both Android and BlackBerry platforms. We knew it was coming of course — it was just a matter of when. The news comes straight from the mouth of Google Voice’s Vincent Paquet who says the application will not only allow Google Voice users to place calls on their devices and have recipients’ calls display the Google Voice number, but it will also make it possible to view voicemail transcripts within the application as opposed to through the mobile web. Unfortunately, no word on SMS integration. We do have to wonder when the company plans to finish off the massive backlog of invites and maybe even open the service up to the public. Oh and while GV Mobile has done a terrific job of tiding us over on the iPhone, we’re definitely anxious to see if Google can match its functionality or even exceed it (push notifications for SMS and voicemails?) with its own app.

Manup's My Hero

That's right people The "Don" is at it again this time he took on a whole other beast, he's whipping up a Insane Mod Rom of the hot "Hero" Rom that's just performance starved, lagg filled, and bug infested. He's taken his superior Graphics Designing Skills and putting them towards the Hero/Rosie cause. Which in my opinion is desperately needed, So sit tight get your sd card's formatted and ext2 ready for the next HOT rom!! A link will be added as soon as possible!

HTC Hero Promo Video

The “Rosie” homescreen, with its distinctive new clock and control bar along the bottom of the screen, makes several appearances. The multiple homescreen pages, plus widgets like music control, are also shown, before the video demonstrated mapping and motion-sensitive controls.

Finally, there are a full seven HTC Hero devices, each in glossy candy-colors: pale green, pink, yellow, red, black, turquoise and white. Anybody know any more about the origins of the video?

Canonical Developers Aim To Get Android Apps Running On Ubuntu

Canonical are currently working on a prototype Android execution environment that will enable Android apps to run on an Ubuntu system. The Canonical developers unveiled the software at the Ubuntu Developer Summit in Barcelona. Canonical eventually plan to publish the environment's source code to the Linux community in an effort to help build momentum around the project and accelerate development. Along with being both beneficial to end users and hardware manufacturers, the ability to use Android software on a conventional Linux distro may also help to bolster app development thanks to the increased portability of the Android applications.

HTC Line-Up for 2009 Leaked; 20 New Devices in the Works

Here are a sneak peak at the HTC lineup for 2009 and the Hero on the top of the list looks like we will be having lot's of fun soon also the phone they are now calling Lancaster which AT&T is rerorted to be dropping some time in the near future is called Memphis. Just like most of the phones dropped by HTC start off with one name and by the time it hits stores has another name. There is no specific order in the pics to when each is dropping but gives us an idea to know what we are looking for.

HTC Lancaster is a QWERTY slider with Android for AT&T

AT&T's been extraordinarily coy about its Android plans, right up through our interview with Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega back in February -- but rest assured, the carrier does plan to get in the game, and it might just beat a number of T-Mobile's planned launches to market. Meet the HTC Lancaster, which kinda looks like a Magic when closed -- but open, it takes on more of a traditional Touch Pro-ish form factor for a QWERTY slider than the G1 / Dream. It's got quadband EDGE and 850 / 1900MHz HSPA, AGPS, a 3 megapixel fixed-focus camera, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD expansion, and a "unique HTC social messaging user interface" that we'd assume takes cues from that Hero stuff we've been seeing recently. It's lined up for a full six months of AT&T exclusivity and -- according to our materials, anyway -- has a target availability date of August 3, meaning we could see this pretty shortly. Unfortunately, there's a note here that "Initial Lab Entry dates were based on Google Mobile Services (GMS) UI, AT&T standard UI has been requested, which puts schedule in question." In other words, AT&T wants its fingerprints all over the interface, which risks pushing out the launch -- and that's a double whammy of suck. Follow the break for a larger shot of the phone!

The Rogers handset that came locked in a safe?

Photobucket
This was posted on boygeniusreport They said they have perks and they do! "One of them is that our pals from FedEx drop off a lot of packages at our office doors and today was no exception. Although it’s a Saturday, the FedEx truck just pulled up and handed us one heavy ass box (12lbs of heavy). Once we checked the shipping address and saw that it was from Rogers Wireless, we couldn’t help but tear away at the packaging. Inside we found an envelope containing a key, a compass and safe box labeled “Join the Revolution: 02-06-09″. Hit the jump for a sneak peak of what’s inside." This just let's us know that android is here to stay and the limits are endless with all the new things being done with the Android plat form.

Donut - More Tasty Android Treats

With yesterday's news of Samsung's forthcoming Android phones making headlines together with the public outing of Donut I decided to do a bit of browsing over on Google's Android Discussion group to see if I could dig up some more information on this forthcoming release.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much available as yet but I did read something interesting regarding the general assumption that Donut equals Android v2.0. This may in fact not be the case. According to various comments posted on a particular thread:

"Cupcake was the code-name for a development milestone, as well as the name for the source code branch corresponding to that milestone... Cupcake is now a defunct name, since that milestone is past. Android 1.5 is the actual name+version for the current Android platform release.

GP2X Game Emulator for Android is Simply Amazing!

As much as we love the Android platform, we never seriously considered it a big gaming device--the market for gaming just didn't seem to take off for Android. Well, we might have to change our stance after watching a video showcasing the GP2X Game Emulator for Android. The video shows games such as Street Fighter II, Marvel vs Street Fighter, Super Mario World, Samurai Showdown, and much more being played on the G1. The GP2X can handle games from MAME, SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Gear and more. It is simply amazing.

The GP2X game emulator is currently only in its alpha stages so there is still quite some time before we see an official launch.

Android/T-mobile stage is set for 09'
